Meet the Herbalist
Laren Leland
(I go by “Leland”)

Overview
As an herbalist, Leland’s focus is on an inclusive, heart-centered approach that incorporates her clients’ medical history, nutrition, mental health, spirituality, and connection to nature. She believes in empowering her clients so they can have an active role in their own healing.
Scope of coverage
Leland works with health goals and challenges as well as with the more emotional and spiritual side of health — depending on clients’ needs.
She works with clients that are looking for preventative herbal care, support with difficult health issues, those would like to increase their connection to nature, people who are interested in learning more about plant spirits, or those who want to learn how to support themselves through herbal remedies.
Specific interests
Leland is very interested in helping with anxiety, depression, migraines, natural ADHD management, stress management, digestive support, sexual well-being, and spiritual wellness. Her deeper research delves into the intricate relationship between childhood and/or sexual trauma and the related mental and physical health challenges. She has worked with a wide range of clients on supporting these and many other additional topics.
Community and identity
Leland brings body-positive, anti-stigma, and trauma-informed viewpoints to her work. She embraces diversity and cherishes the uniqueness of each individual she has a chance to work with.
Blossomwood Botanicals
Leland is also an herbal remedy-maker, she’s always growing her dispensary and vibrational essence collection. Her remedies are created from certified organic commercial herbs and/or gathered from the highest quality sources available. She grows and forages many herbs at Blossomwood Farmstead.
Herbal Education
Leland’s work with plants began in childhood, guided by her mother and the old ways of Northern Italy. She later completed formal training at the Berkeley Herbal Center (BHC), including a year-long intensive clinical program and a year of mentored clinical practice. She now teaches at BHC as part of the faculty. Her education also includes studies with Scott Kloos, the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine, and Flower Essence Studies.
Herbal allies
Some of Leland’s all time favorite herbal allies are rose, hawthorn, linden, skullcap, passionflower, California poppy, mugwort, yarrow, plantain, rosemary, sage, gotu kola, and nettle.
