Working with Magical Plants – April 12

April 12 @ 11:00 am - 1:30 pm
$40.00

Discover the rich traditions of working with plants for magic, ritual, and spiritual practice. In this class we will explore the ways people have historically engaged with herbs beyond their physical constituent properties—using plants for purification, protection, manifestation, and connection with the natural world.

Participants will learn about the symbolic and energetic qualities of a variety of magical plants and how to incorporate them into simple rituals and everyday practices. We will also explore several plants that grow here in the Pacific Northwest and discuss how developing relationships with the plants around us can deepen magical work.

Together we will sit quietly with flower essence to experience its presence and reflect on the ways plants can guide and support our intentions.

Topics we will discuss:

  • what magical herbalism means in the context of western herbalism
  • herbal purification, protection, and manifestation
  • kitchen magic, home magic, and everyday magical practices
  • working with moon cycles
  • traditional magical herbs and their folklore
  • plants of the Pacific Northwest and their magical associations
  • a flower essence plant meditation
  • tastings of herbal remedies!

About the herbalist

Leland’s work with plants began in childhood, guided by her mother and the old ways of Northern Italy. She later completed formal training at the Berkeley Herbal Center, including a year-long intensive clinical program and a year of mentored clinical practice. She now teaches there as part of the faculty. Her herbal education also includes studies with Scott Kloos, the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine, and practitioner training with Flower Essence Studies.
