Leland will lead you through the herb garden and surrounding landscape\, introducing the plants that grow abundantly in this part of coastal Oregon. \nTogether\, we’ll slow down and meet these plants in their living environment—learning to recognize them\, understand how they grow\, and explore the many ways they are traditionally and currently used. This is a chance to deepen your relationship with the plants themselves\, through observation\, touch\, and presence. \nWe will close with a quiet moment together\, including a short meditation with a flower essence. \nSome topics we’ll touch on in this class: \n\nplant identification in the garden and along the nature trails\nhow to recognize key features for identification\ngrowing tips for herbs that thrive in this region\nethical harvesting practices\nsustainable gardening practices\ncommon and traditional uses of local beneficial plants\nseasonal awareness and working with plants where you live\n\nAccessibility \nWe will move slowly on this walk and with intention\, stopping often to learn about the plants and spend time in observation and conversation. \nThe land here is alive and uneven—trails include natural surfaces\, some elevation\, and areas that may be narrow or irregular underfoot.
